I ♥ Faces: Week 9

Photobucket
Week #9:
CREATIVE CROP

Photobucket
I love Princess's eyes, and the funky colors she has in them, so I played around.
It started with this picture:
Photobucket
I love her expression, but I was in the mood for CLOSE, so I cropped it tight for 1/2 her face.  I then used the magnetic lasso around her eyes, and, selecting the inverse (everything but her eyes), I went B&W - but kept just the eye color.  With no other colors competing for the attention, it brought her eyes out like crazy.  For the record, her eyes are a mix of colors - daddy's blue and mommy's brown, with a tint of Nana's green!  We call them Hazel just to make her life a little easier.

Hmmmm ...
I keep feeling like I need to de-saturate her eyes to make them look real ... but they are real!  I didn't paint them or re-colorize them.  I did use "curves" to adjust the B&W shadows.  It's just odd how intense her eyes are when they aren't fighting with her soft ivory skin or deep lips for the color-attention ... or something.

I just went back in and made it all B&W.  I'm still fighting with the "too colorful" eyes feeling.  I don't know why they look so bright in the first crop ...

I think I like the full B&W better ... less distracting.  Then again, my goal was to show her eyes, so I don't know.  Any opinions?

I like the idea, but the eyes could be brighter and more obvious.
