Mod Podge Letters

I had this:

But it was a little boring, and dark.  It was just too easily lost with my green walls.  

So, I bought some CUTE scrapbook paper, and dug out my mod podge, traced the letters onto the paper, cut them out, inked the edges, and turned it into this:

I like how it turned out, and it add a little extra fun in my kitchen!

Laundry Room Sneak Peek

It's not done yet ... we are installing a counter-top on the far side of the room, so I can fold laundry and iron and all that.  We're also installing shelves above the washer and dryer.  When it's finished, this room will have gone from a junk-pile room, to a functional laundry room that I actually WANT to be in.


So far, the paint is done!

Paint Colors decided!

I already posted the Behr Mother Nature for the kitchen/family room, and the Benjamin Moore PBK Kittery Point Green for my daughters' room.

Our laundry room, and some bathrooms are going to be Kwal Light Topaz, and the main color throughout the entry, halls, master room, formal living room and play room is going to be Kwal Sierra Sand.

Now we're just working on a color for SuperBoy's room.  I think we're leaning towards Benjamin Moore Polar Sky, but I'm still on the lookout for something less "baby" blue.

Paints

We're picking paints for our house.  After 5 different colors painted on the walls, our family room is going to be Behr "Mother Nature"

I've now found the PERFECT color for Princess & AngelBaby's room:  Kittery Point Green from Pottery Barn Kids, by Benjamin Moore.  Princess loves pink, AngelBaby loves purple - I think the green will be the perfect color to coordinate everything together.




Now I just have to find the perfect tan for most the rest of my house, a gorgeous yellow for my laundry room, and a nice color for SuperBoy's StarWars room.

Any ideas for the StarWars room paint color?

Sewing a Table Runner

I need to paint our sad wooden table.  It's a dull, beat-up pine.  I have grand plans to refinish it, but I'm stuck in the deciding stage.  While I am stuck on paint colors, I am going to sew a table runner to help camouflage the table top .  I found THIS tutorial, and fell in love with the simple, shabby design.  Honestly, I don't think it could get any easier :)

Fabric Addiction

I'm addicted and conditioned. I see a fabric store, and I begin to drool, in a very similar fashion to Pavlov's dogs. The idea of colors mixed with unique designs, all on cool, crisp cottons or warm, soft flannels ... it brings on excitement for me. The possibilities of creativity are endless. Will my purple bird fabric be turned into a little girl's twirl skirt, or a sassy apron for myself, or part of a warm quilt, or some fun pillows for my daughters' room?

I think of the Americana fabrics I've just *had* to buy ... I'd see one, and snatch up a yard or two. No actual project in mind, just an adoration for that particular fabric. My americana stash grew, and finally pulled them out a week ago. I decided that fabric was going to create a snuggly quilt for my family room, since the cold winter months aren't too far away. Using that fabric justifies my NEED to buy them - I have now created something cute, homemade, and functional!

However, there are some fabrics that I adore too much to settle on any old project with. My Alexander Henry Apples & Pears fabric is one such fabric. I can't decide what to make with the 2 glorious yards of this fabric. The trouble is, I only have those 2 yards ... and if I settle on one project, what if another project comes along, and NEEDS that fabric?

I need to attend F.A. Meetings ... Fabricaholic Anonymous. Will I see anyone there?

We're moved!

We finally got ourselves moved in.  The walk through was awful - we ended up having a cleaning crew work on the bathrooms, while my SIL and I cleaned everything else.  I'm so NOT a clean freak ... but there's something about not being able to see through a glass shower door.

We love our new ward.  Just love it.

The kids should start school next week.  I need to get them registered ... but which school?!  The closest one to us isn't actually OUR school ... our street is the dividing line - so we could request to be in that school anyways.  DH and I are going by the other school tonight to see how far it is, and all that.

The house needs painted.  I need good color sugestions.  Everything is bland white ... except for two of the bathrooms and one living room wall ... someone got creative with faux-texturing.  The family room & kitchen were also painted this weird gray color that is kind of depressing.  I think the laundry/mud room is begging to be yellow.  I also need a good neutral tan color - any suggestions?

Grape Juice Magic: Completed!

Today's final batch was made with the 30 year old juicer. It was AWSOME!  We have 12 jars of grape juice (not including the one we gave away already).  Next year, I'll be ready for the grapes!

Anyhow, today is SuperBoy's birthday party. The theme: dinosaurs. I am making an ambitious cake, have several fun activities, and went a bit overboard with the favors. I think it will be great ... I just have to remember to take pictures!

My foot is still in the walking cast, but to add too it, my other foot is slightly lower, even in my tennies with inserts, so I have hurt my lower back. All I want to do is lay down, find a possition where it hurts less, and lay there all day. Unfortunately, I need to finish the cake, bury the dinosaur eggs in the sandbox, and weed my forest of a front yard. I'm serious ... it's a forest - some of the flowers wildflowers (fine, I'll be honest) WEEDS are taller than my 5 year old. (Who happened to be 47.5" at his 5 yr appt!!!) Wish me luck ... or better yet, do you know any kids who like to be paid to pull weeds? I'm ready to start dishing out the quarters, or heck, even dollars :)

It's done with ... the dora party is finished. I'm still recovering :) - but now I have to get on the ball for SuperBoy's birthday (it's next week).

Sleeping with blankies

I need sleep. My 2 youngest are sick, and have been waking up at least twice during the night. AngelBaby has been wanting a bottle, and Princess has been crying and whining that her _____ hurts (fill the blank with almost anything ... teeth, toes, tummy, head, neck, hair, etc.) I am tired and cranky from falling asleep on the couch by 8:30, and waking up exhausted!

So, Last night DH kicked me off the couch, telling me to go to bed, and all I remember was pulling up the covers on the bed, and feeling so warm and snuggled under my down comforter and wedding quilt. What is it with blankets that gives me a feeling of safety and love? For a very long time, I had my special blankie ... a blue and white crib blanket with quilted butterflies and flowers, and Prarie Point edging. I slept with it from the day I was born ... until the day I got married. Okay, in all honesty, it also was with me during my three labors, and I probably would still sleep with it, except that our wedding quilt has the same feel as my little blankie, so it has become my grown-up blankie :) I'm just attatched to super snuggly cozy blankets.

So, there are these blankies and other baby items called Taggies. They are super cute, so I madeAngelBaby one. Since they are patented, I didn't actually make a Taggie . . . just a ribbon-edged-blanket-lovie. It's about 24"x24". With my girls being sick, I wanted to made them something that could comfort them, and give them the same "snuggled-in-someone's-love" feeling I have when it comes to blankets. Here's AngelBaby's:



So, now I'm just waiting for "princess" ribbon so I can make Princess one as well. I think she'll like it ... considering she keeps wanting to snuggle AngelBaby's blankie, smoothing the ribbons in her fingers. I'll have to post some pictures of that one when it's finished. Oh, and the best part - it only took about 15 minutes to make!
