God loves everyone.

The kids were watching a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode, where Astronaut Goofy crashes on Mars.  Mickey said "kids, will you help Goofy get off of Mars?"

SuperBoy was being silly, and said "No, no we won't help him!"

Princess's face turned into a frown, and she turned to SuperBoy, and said "But we SHOULD help Goofy.  He's a Child of God too.  God loves everyone."

Dishes

I came in the kitchen today to find my kids doing dishes.  I turned to my sisters to scold them - I assumed that the 15 and 18 year old had ditched their chores onto my kids.  Turns out, my kids were the ones to initiate the dish-doing.

After the dishes were clean and put away, Princess came to me, and asked "Can we have lunch and dinner now?!"  I asked if she was hungry, and she replied, "no, but we want to do more dishes!"

Happy Ground-Frog Day!

I was making myself some hot cocoa, when I overheard the kids:

AngelBaby: "It's Hedgehog Day!"

SuperBoy: "No, it's Groundhog Day."

AngeBaby: "So, when are we gonna go look for frogs on the ground?"

SuperBoy: "Huh?"

AngelBaby: "Ya know, for Ground-frog day."

Funny Princess!

Princess tends to be very solemn when she speaks, her eyes wide and serious as she talks.  Unfortunately, sometimes all that seriousness can make things even more comedic ... enhanced by her trouble with "r" and a missing front tooth that makes her "S" sound soooo cute.  Her "for" sounds like "foe", and "silly" has the slightest "sthilly".  It's pretty adorable.

Friday Night, Princess asked me very seriously:
"Mom, what's for dinner ... Or are you planning on starving us again?"

Today:
Me: "Princess, what are you going to be when you grow up?" (Now the LAST time I asked the same thing, the reply was "a ballerina princess")

Princess:
(quiet thinking for a moment)
"Either a Baker ...

("or a candlestick maker." DH chuckled under his breath)

"or a animal doctor - what's that word?"
(Veterinarian, I suplied)
"Right a veterinarian. I was also thinking about being a Suess."

A "Suess"

Oh, a writer like Dr Suess?  With some questioning she clarified that a "Suess" was someone who gives massages.

At least she has options ;)

Star Wars

First off, if you haven't seen This YouTube Video, go watch it now.

Star Wars is one of SuperBoy's favorite things.  He loves his Lego StarWars video games, the Legos he has that can be built into little cruisers, the Star Wars transformers, the star wars action figures, and the entire bucket filled with Galactic Heros.

I swear the kid knows more about star wars than I ever could!

Yesterday the kids were playing ever so nicely together in the playroom.  It's a mother's proud moment when her kids are quietly playing together!  Ever so often, a child would come up to me to announce what the topic of play was.  "I'm sleeping beauty!" "We're watching Teddy Ruxpin."  "SuperBoy built a house out of blocks for our ponies!"  I respond with my expected "oh wow!" and they skip off to play more.

At one point, the play (as it inevitably does when SuperBoy is around) had shifted to ALL things Star-Wars.  As they heard me in the kitchen, they all began to filter up from the playroom, investigating what could be cooking, but not ready to abandon their play.  Their hands were filled with little Galactic Hero guys.  Princess went to DH and announced - holding her hero figure up to DH's face: "I'm a Bouncy-Hunter!"  DH of course sent her into me to tell me about it ... "Mom, I'm playing with SuperBoy, and I get to be a Bouncy Hunter!!!"

I can't stop thinking about this new Star Wars character that goes around looking for bouncy houses ... or is he hunting for a pogo stick?  I think I've found my favorite Star Wars character!

Down By the Bay

SuperBoy sang this song for me today ... since it's about me:

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
Did you ever see a Mama,
Eating her pajamas?
Down by the bay!

KidFunny

Today we are headed to the stake-center, a church building that is used by an entire "Stake", several wards (or congrigations) put together.

So I prepped the kids on behaving when we left the house.

Me: "We are going to the stake center, so you need to be on good behavior."

SuperBoy (wide eyed): "Why do we have to go to a Mistake Center?"

So, Where can I buy a Baby?

Tuesday, my SIL had her hands full - one dd in school, 2 dds with the flu, 1 dd who is 6m old, and a DH out of town on business. So, I convinced her to let me babysit 6m old Lainy for the day. We got SuperBoy off to school, then the girls and I went and picked up Lainy. My girls were in love.

I was changing a tiny diaper when SuperBoy's bus pulled up. Princess threw the front door open, and yelled "Hurry up SuperBoy! Mom bought us a new baby!"

SuperBoy replied "Do we get to keep it forever?!"

They were disapointed to find out that the "bought baby" was their cousin, and we'd have to return her at the end of the day. I explained that their Aunty needed to rest and take care of M & A, who were sick, so we were just babysitting. They quickly moved on, entertaining Lainy with silly faces, armfuls of toys, and hysterical giggles.

As afternoon naptime ended, it was time to get everyone packed into the car to return baby Lainy, and pick up DH from the office. SuperBoy obediently put his shoes on, then suddenly stood in front of me defiantly.

With a big glare, he said: "If she's here cause M & A have the flu, shouldn't she stay here longer? Cause babies shouldn't ever go to someone's house if they are sick. Why are we gonna let her get sick? That's not very nice mom. We should be good and keep her" He ended with another defiant glare.

I finally got them all in car seats and buckled up, and we headed down the freeway. AngelBaby was giggling and holding baby Lainy's hand on the drive. As we neared SIL's house, Lainy decided she was hungry and began to cry. Angel Baby just held her hand and soothed "it okay baby Lainy. No cry, it okay." We arrived, and I had my kids stay in the car as I ran the baby up to SIL's door, into her mama's open arms.

I got back into the minivan, where AngelBaby and Princess were crying. It had been a fun, but long day, and they were tired - as was I! As I backed the car out, AngelBaby desperately pointed to SIL's house, and whined: "Baby Lainy MINE. My Baby Lainy. No make Lainy cry mom. My Baby Lainy." I soothed her with a piece of licorice, and passed a piece to everyone ... they can't cry well when they have a mouth full of candy!

But, to my dismay and annoyance, Princess kept crying. Princess has a very effective cry, sobbing softly, but loud enough to drive you crazy enough to just give her whatever to make her stop (lil stinker!) The licorice wasn't doing the trick, so I pulled over and offered her more, which she took, then continued to sob. Finally I asked in frustration "WHAT can possibly be wrong?!" She looked up at me with her tear-glistening cheeks and said in a terribly melodramatic voice: "But I love that baby mom. I wanted to keep her forever" and she returned to her sobbing. She sobbed all the way to DH's office.

Can 2, 3 and 5 year olds get baby-hungry?!

Sorry kids, Target is fresh out of new babies, maybe they'll have new stock next time we go shopping for that new baby.

What a mom gets for cleaning her kids rooms:

My house needs a major overhaul today, so I began in the kids' rooms. The girls "helped" me with their room, then helped with SuperBoy's room. SuperBoy's "tummy hurt", so he had to stay up in his bed while we cleaned.

ten minutes later, I am making lunch when I hear:

SuperBoy: "Mo-om! You forgot to make my bed!"

Me: "Making YOUR bed is one of YOUR jobs."

SuperBoy: "Well, why don't you have any jobs, mom?!"

It's a good thing that kid's mother loves him ... otherwise he'd be living at the zoo.

Friday Night Funny

Last night, I took the "I'm-worn-out-and-just-want-to-get-the-kids-in-bed" route with dinner: Good old PB&J. Princess wanted strawberry jam, so I sent the kids outside while I found the jam and made sandwiches. Well, I had to grab a new jar of jam out of the cupboard, and as hard as I tried, I could not get the jar open. So, I yelled to DH in the next room over:

"I need a big strong man to come help me!!!"

a couple seconds later, in pops SuperBoy's Head

"Here I am, what can I help you with?"

Stiffling a giggle, I told him I could not get the jar open.

He pondered for a minute, then replied:

"Hmmm ... well, I think you better ask dad."

Sunbeams

Sunbeam aged children are the CUTEST things in the world. They are the 3-4 year old sunday school class at church, and have the shortest attention span, and the sweetest innocence.

Oh, and they say the most random things!!!

Quotes from today's class:

"My favorite food is broco-wee and soyee-beans."

"Let just sneak out when the teachers aren't looking and go find our mommies"

"I'm catching the dust bunnies" (waving hands wildly through the air)

"Can I pet your dress teacher?" (I had a velvet skirt)

"My mommy's name is *Jane Doe*, but I have to call her mom."

"I have four sisters, and a mom and a daddy, but no brothers, except my brother in Heaven."

"My mommy has a baby boy in her tummy" (This mom just had a baby girl two months ago, lol)

AND THE GRAND FINALE (aka, closing prayer):

"Dear Heavenly Father, please bless us that the big bad wolf won't come to our house, and that we can go home with our mommy and be safe again."

DH visited my class and kept trying to hide his laughter. He was a bad example, lol ... since I was having a hard enough time keeping a straight face myself.

Shouldn't I be mad?

I feel a little guilty ... perhaps that I'm letting my children slide by the rules. But, they won't be little for long, so I may as well start laughing at the things that "will be funny someday". Yesterday was filled with those experiences.

Yesterday morning Princess brought me her teddy bear, and showed me that, in sharing her chocolate milk with teddy, he had gained a light brown milk mustache. It was quite becoming on Teddy - he looked quite healthy in
Princess's opinion, so she declined my offer to stick him in the washing machine for "a bath". A little while later, my Princess took teddy with her into the bathroom. While in there, she ran across mommy's nice shampoo. It made mommy's hair smell so good, and mommy used the conditioner to make Princess's hair so soft ... wouldn't teddy be so soft and smell so sweet if she washed his hair? Yes, I came into the bathroom, slipping and sliding across sticky shampoo. Princess had shampoo everywhere ... especially the big puddle on the top or her head, dripping down the back of her shirt - with a matching puddle on top of Teddy's head. Teddy and Princess promptly had their first joyous bath together ... in the morning none the less!

Then there was yesterday afternoon. I took a load of laundry into my room where my children were (*supposed to be*) watching Mulan. I plopped onto my bed with my kids, and only after I was halfway through folding clothes did I notice the creative use of black crayon, decorating my master bedroom walls with a mountain mural. I should have immediately delt with the situation, but instead I had to leave the room for a good chuckle (cringe!). My son was a pretty darn good artist! I knew from first glance that he had drawn the mountains from the opening scene of Mulan - he'd even snow-capped a couple of the higher peaks! I tried so hard to go back in with a straight face and explain how we don't use crayons on the walls ... can I just admit here and now that I still haven't cleaned the walls? I just smiled all day when I saw my mountainous wall, then chidded myself for not being more matronly.

All I can say is thank goodness for Magic Erasers and Running water!
